The Electress of the Palatinate Anna Maria Luisa was the last descendant of the Medici family. Daughter of Cosimo III and sister of Gian Gastone, we have to thank her for the “Family Pact”, an agreement signed in 1737 with the family of Asburgo Lorena (new rulers of Tuscany), to be sure that all the treasures and the artistic heritage of Florence, accumulated over the centuries, did not got lost, but remained in the city “for the benefit of the public and to attract the curiosity of the foreigners”. We must thank her if today we can still admire all the beauties that the city of Florence offers us.
A guided tour of Florence to learn the story of Anna Maria Luisa de ‘Medici, a strong and determined woman, but also sadly unfortunate.
